Special Issue

This special issue of the Journal of Physics D was initiated by SAWtrain, a Marie Sklodowska-Curie Innovative Training Network funded by the European Union’s Horizon 2020 research and innovation programme.

It brings together Topical Reviews and Research Articles from leading experts from the field, demonstrating the wide range of functionalities SAWs are currently employed for.

Specific examples include technological advances for the generation and detection of GHz SAWs, basic studies of their interaction with optical, magnetic, and electrical excitations down to the single particle level, as well as application of SAWs in advanced waveguide modulators, tuneable optical resonators, single-electron pumps, and single-photon sources.

It will be continuously updated as more papers on Surface Acoustic Waves are accepted by the editors.
